Chin Xi'an Style Restaurant 秦张记

Walking into this place is like stepping through a silk curtain into another world—red lanterns hanging like fire-kissed moons, walls dripping with ink brush dragons and mountain rivers that look alive if you stare long enough. The art doesn’t just hang, it breathes. It whispers that you’re not here for takeout in a styrofoam box—you’re here for a performance. The food? Criminally good. Dumplings so plump they look like they’re keeping secrets. Noodles with the snap of guitar strings. Every dish felt painted, not plated—color, spice, and steam blending into edible art. You don’t just eat here—you curate memories on your tongue. The staff glide like brushstrokes, smooth and deliberate, never rushed, never fake. They treat you like you belong in the painting. If you want sterile white walls and boring fortune cookies, stay at Panda Express. But if you want to be swallowed whole by flavor, color, and character—this is the spot. This isn’t a restaurant; it’s a temple to taste and artistry.

We’ve been wanting to try Chin Xi'an Style Restaurant 秦张记 for a while, and we finally gave it a shot. I’m happy we did! We started off with the “crispy celery with dried tofu slices and peanuts” as an appetizer. The celery was indeed fresh and crisp, the tofu plentiful, and the peanuts peanutty as expected. The dish was coated in some sort of salty marinade that tied everything together in a tasty way. The serving size was rather large, too, I had the “spicy cumin lamb hand-ripped noodles” as my main dish. I’ve had this before in the Flushing, NY Chinatown, and I have to say I think the Chin Xi’an Style version is my favorite. The wide noodles were fantastically elastic and fresh. The lamb was plentiful and perfectly cooked and seasoned with cumin and other spices. A spicy (but not too spicy) chili oil covered everything. The dish does have an abundance of oil, but it’s a feature, not a bug. My wife had the “northwest beef noodle soup.” Having grown up in Taiwan, my wife is a beef noodle soup expert, and although this Xi’an soup varies a bit, she reports that it was really good. Lots of beef and lots of noodles. If you don’t like spicy, use caution with the bowl of chili paste/oil they give you for the soup. Our server was friendly, timely, and answered any questions we had. The prices seem reasonable. It hasn’t even been a week but we’re already looking forward to going back to try different dishes.

These were the best noodles I’ve ever had! Perfect texture and the hot oil was delicious. I’m not afraid of spice, but I also don’t want the hottest thing, and this felt well balanced. Sorry my picture is of a half eaten dish, because I tore into it as soon as it got to my table. I wish I lived closer!

Their Spicy Lamb Cumin Hand Ripped Noodles ares some of the best I have ever had! Spicy Pork noodles were good too. The Beef Murger was just okay, it had great spicy filling but the bread was underwhelming. I would definitely come back!

Great price for the quality of food you get here. 好吃. portion size is generous. Flavor is on the lighter side, but spicy level is at a good moderation. Noodles texture was softer than I expected, hoped for a more al dente texture. Meats were off the bone. Dipping seasoning definitely needed. Atmospheres is more like an open cafe or cafeteria. We weren’t sure there is even table service when first arrived. After checked with the take out counter we found out it is a full service restaurant just didn’t look that way. And…don’t bother with the ordering machines out front. It only gives you take out and waitlist options. Recommendations for the management: Tables and seats needed more cleaning. And waiters need to confirm customers orders before put in since C & S can be mix up especially when environment is a bit noisy. But overall, we were satisfied with the service. Our server was very kind. Do recommend this place for casual dinner night.

This is the perfect "hole in the wall" for authentic Chinese. Soups, wontons and pulled noodles. Stir fried tofu sides look simple but have such a deep flavor. Delicious! It is very hard to find flavorful tofu dishes ... Go here! The staff is very kind and attentive, and the restaurant is impeccably clean. Photo: crispy celery with peanuts and tofu, tofu skin noodles tossed in a light umami and onion flavor, and crisp cold sweet heat cabbage.

Another regular meal for my weekend! Very chill and nice place with authentic Xi'an style food. My go to place when I miss LiangPi and RouJiaMo! Their lamb soup and PaoMo bring me back home. Highly recommend if you want to try some cool and authentic Chinese food!

I really like this restaurant, and my favorite recipes are Spicy Hot Oil Seared Hand Ripped Noodles and Spicy Lamb Murger! Every time I come here, I must order these two. Today I even bike here to get my favorite food ahh since I really miss them. Highly recommend everyone to try these!
